Black Cocoa Powder

For the longest time I never knew why Oreo's had that black color instead of a normal, brown chocolate color. Well, I found out not long ago that there is such a thing as black cocoa, and that is what gives them their dark black color and unique flavor.

So, I had to order some black cocoa for this recipe and boy am I glad I did. You can grab it on Amazon, where I got it. I have never really seen it for sale in a grocery, so online would be your best bet.

Vanilla cream

Next thing we have to talk about is the vanilla protein cream / icing on top. It wouldn't be an Oreo without the yummy cream in the middle. So, we added it on top here. It is super easy to make, and adds even more protein to the recipe.

It is really simple, just some nonfat Greek yogurt, a little but of sugar free vanilla pudding powder, and some Vanilla Ice Cream ONE Protein.

✅Ingredients

Oatmeal

  • 3/4 cup (60g) quick oats
  • 1 1/4 cups (300mL) milk or water
  • 1 scoop (34g) Macro ONE Protein, chocolate brownie
  • 2 tbsp (10g) black cocoa powder (can use 1 tbsp for less dark cocoa flavor)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 low-fat oreos, mixed in once done cooking

Vanilla Cream

  • 1/4 cup (60g) plain, nonfat greek yogurt
  • 1/3 scoop (11g) Macro ONE Protein, vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tbsp (8g) sugar free vanilla pudding mix
  • 2-3 tbsp milk (I used unsweetened almond) to thin out the mixture
  • 1 crushed up low-fat Oreo for topping

✅Instructions

  1. Add oats and milk/water to a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1:30. Stir, microwave again for another 60 seconds. Can microwave less if you like slightly runnier oatmeal.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes. Add protein powder, black cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until combined. Mix in a couple low-fat crushed up Oreos.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together all vanilla cream ingredients. Start with just a little bit of milk to thin out the consistency and add more as needed. More milk will make the vanilla cream more runny, less will make it thicker.
  4. Top with another crushed up Oreo and enjoy.
